It's soft and flavourful, the perfect recipe for any chocolate lovers out there, just like me! It has such an intense flavour in every bite you take...

 I will show you how to make it, step by step.

Let's go to the kitchen!

Ingredients of the chocolate sponge cake with chocolate chips:

  • 130 grams of flour
  • 100 grams of cornstarch
  • 50 grams of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 yeast packet
  • 150 grams of sugar
  • 2 natural yoghurts (if they are Greek, it will have a smoother consistency)
  • 80 grams of sunflower oil
  • 150 grams of chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoon of whole milk

Preparation:

1. Mix the flour, yeast and cornstarch together.

2. Sieve the dry mixture.

3. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder

4. Then add the yoghurts, sugar, eggs, oil and milk to the dry ingredients. Incorporate it well as you are looking for it to form a smooth and uniform mixture.

5.Out of the 150 grams of chocolate chips, use 100 grams to add to this mixture, Mix them in. Then, preheat the oven to 180º (356ºF)

6. Get your cake tin ready. I have used one that is square and made out of glass, but you can use whichever one you prefer or have at hand. Line it with parchment paper and pour in the mixture. Tap the base of your cake tin on your kitchen counter to get rid of any bubbles.

7. With the leftover chocolate chips, sprinkle them over the top to decorate. Bake the cake for 20 to 30 minutes (the time depends on your oven, so start checking it after 20 minutes). Before you take it out, stick in a skewer, toothpick or knife until it comes out clean. It might be smeared with chocolate as the chocolate chips will already be melted, but this is okay! What you have to look out for is raw cake batter.
